GM PP usage

ferhargo Jan '16
If a GM rolls for a NPC (say with /as X followed with /roll Y) and adds power, normally it works fine. However, if the GM has a GMPC in play, attempting to add power to the rolls of normal NPCs will draw from the power reserves of the GMPC, to the degree that if the GMPC has no power NO NPCs can use power either. Usually not a problem considering the scarcity of GMPCs/ NPCs using power, but it still exists.

Can the GM not just work around this by restoring their own PP?

E.g., Goblin 1 rolls attack 2 + power 1 (for some reason) and the GM's Character (Steven) looses a power point. The GM then simply types /give Steven +1 power and the problem is then resolved.

Good point. Having the GM restore PP is a good workaround.

However it does cause some problems. For one if the GMPC has no PP left whatsoever, you'd have to recharge, discharge, than recharge the PP uses. That takes up log space and somewhat takes the tension away in cases when PP is recharged for an NPC attack.

Then again, using PP for npcs is up to GM discretion. How they deal with it is up to them. Needless to say when the GMPC is not present, the PP problem goes away all together.

A forum that's active. And Ferhargo, Palegeon and Oman are talking? We seem to have time traveled to 2013.

On a more serious note... the 0 pp thing is no worse, you just have to restore -before- using the GMPC power point.

Alternatively, you could demote your own in-party character to a GMPC and enjoy unlimited PP for all GMPCS :)
