Any questions about my table? About my games? Need any advice with your own campaigns? Got any questions about the lore of Greternesh? Feel free to ask anything here :)

I consider this old forum to be a similar thing, so will leave it here to prevent repeating myself: fabletop.com/forum/topic/243.10/feed-back-forum-re...

Some questions about Fauns in Greternesh.
A; there any general naming conventions with fauns?
B; How exactly does Faunish (that's a horrible word) society work? Are there leaders or is it more like "yo we're fauns and we're all just chilling in the forest playing music 'n' %#@&, damn it's good to be faun"?

Good questions Cerb! Sorry I didn't see them until just now, the forum link didn't turn yellow like it normally does when a post has been added! :)

A) The Fauns are a free people, and well read, they have long lists of names and can choose from any of them. Some Fauns are a bit pompous or artsy, and so can have quite elaborate names, but most choose Elvish names, as these are commonly thought to the be the most 'beautiful'.

B) The Fauns are not a society within themselves, but rather comprise as one group in the society of Hope (also known as the Pure Lands) This society is made up of Ents, Druids, Centaurs, Fauns and the various trees and animals that live there. From time to time, a god may even visit them. In this society, the Ents are seen as the leaders - they are the wisest and oldest of the races, but as they take quite a long time to say anything, and their speech slows as the years go by (by the time of the game it's about three sentences a year), the Centaurs are being looked to for leadership more and more. The Centaurs have a leader, who is chosen by the prophecies read in the stars, and this leader is called The Sagittare. the Druids and Fauns meanwhile play a more servant like role in the society as healers. The Druids are the literal healers, who use magic and medicine to treat physical injuries, whilst the Fauns are seen as a healers of the spirit. The Fauns main purpose as a race, is to make Hope the beautiful place it needs to be, their music has been shown to help the trees, when they play the birds sing all the more beautifully, they contribute to the over all feelings of the place. In a human society saying 'I'm an artist, it's my job to give people nice feelings' might be scoffed at - but to the Fauns it's a science and respected profession. They may appear to be 'chilling in the forest' - but are actually hard at work!

Will Greternesh have permadeath? Or will it be like Questscape and those who are defeated will have a penalty (e.g. injuries, xp reduction)?
oman1666 Jun '15
I haven't decided yet. I know a lot of people like Permadeath, but ultimately I think it's a bit lazy. I want to focus on world consequences for succeeding in or failing a quest, and move away from simple ones, like a character dying. I haven't actually seen a character's health hit 0 on Fabletop for a while - I tend not to make my combat encounters stupidly hard like that, and power points can be used to constantly same oneself anyway!

Chances are I'll go with what I have from Fallout - where being hit for any amount of damage whilst on 0 life is death, and on 0 life you're knocked out and dependant on the party saving you.

are there any reptile men, kind of like lizardfolk?
oman1666 Jul '15
Did you not already make a wolf-rider?

I'll assume you're talking about Greternesh - no there are no humanoid reptilian races.

when will you host WWII command?
oman1666 Aug '15
the short answer is... whenever. I'm not planning to schedule the game and will simply host what I want to host when I can fit it around work.
humon Sep '15
if youre not going to host ww2 anymore, id like to use some of the content of it to create a strategy game similar to a board game which name is not remembered, its just that the miniature limit can only be survived if i use some of your mechanics
oman1666 Sep '15
which mechanics specifically do you want to use?
humon Sep '15
not much, i wanted to use some of the infantry mechanics, but the main thing i want to use is the system of the Xp-higher rank, and mostly the unit amount balancing (though i planned some complex ways of unit cap/point system), since i planned on mostly making it PVP (thats an another one aswell)

so in overall, bits and bits of different areas of the game

sure, sure go ahead, why not.

Couple questions

Q1:
I'm not exactly clueless, but I haven't played much of DnD, is this a little beginner friendly?
Q2:
Do I have to write out a whole life story for my character or is a 1-2-3 paragraph bio?
Q3:
How does combat work? I've always made swordmaster type characters
( fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Swordmaster )
Who focus on double attacks, crits, and dodges rather than pure damage and defence, would I max my agility?

Thanks.

Just realized I forgot to specify that those questions were for "A Winter in Alum"
oman1666 Feb '16
Hi Randompixel, let me try and answer those for you :)
1) A Winter in Alum doesn't use any rules, mechanics or lore from DnD. It's a fantasy setting, so some basic knowledge of what a Dwarf or a Kobold is will be useful, but you don't need to know anything. The game should be fairly beginner friendly for anyone who knows how to play Fabletop.
2) The more detail in your description the better! But by no means do you have to write out everything, I just need a decent idea of what the character is.
3) Combat is by the core rules of Fabletop, which is very unflashy. You roll might for melee attacks and do 1 damage per star. If you wanted to do more damage, dodge or attack twice in a turn you could do so using a power point. So what you probably want is a character with 3 might and fairly high power (maybe 3 or 4)

Hope this helped :)

considering you just hosted a fallout table, i'd like to know 2 things:

1: if you came face to face with a deathclaw and only had power armor, would you be able to kill it?

2: what is your best memory of fallout 3?
oman1666 Feb '17
1) in real life? Armour only and no weapons? No chance. Those things will rip the armour off your body.

2) SPOILERS FOR FALLOUT 3.
I genuinely thought you'd never find your dad again in the wastes, finding him and talking to him again was pretty great. Also, playing the game of year edition and doing all the DLC was great, especially finishing everything up in Broken Steel

1) For Archangels; do the alien sci-fi races have any specific naming conventions?

2) Also for Archangels; it seems like The Story So Far hasn't been updated in a few sessions. Could you give a synopsis from between 19/2 and now?
oman1666 Mar '18
The Forum for Archangels has been updated with the most recent session; there was a long gap between a couple of the games.

I'm not going to invent any naming conditions for the alien races at this point, because I want CC to be as a simple and open as possible.
hitoshura Mar '18
Well, I cced for Archangels and accidentally went overboard. Whoops. When's next sesh?
oman1666 Mar '18
You're joining right at the end of the game's first season! Really sorry Hito, but there might not be another game now
