Across the Stronghold there are five sentient races that have made the land their home. Either on the surface in Tophold, or below it in the depths of Deephold.
=====
HUMAN Lifespan: 80 years on average, however 100 years at maximum
Species Bonus - "Determination: Re-roll one dice roll and use the highest result" can only be used once per questline
ELF Lifespan: 150 years on average. Age slower than humans after they hit puberty
The Elves of "The Stronghold" are strange creatures.
Tall and thin, almost willowy with pale skin and pointed ears. Elven eyes are like those of a cat (their iris fills the visible part of their eye, the sclera only seen when they move their eyes. Their pupils are a vertical slit) and in a wide range of colours; the eyes of an Elf even shine in the dark, although it gives them no better vision in darkness.
The physiology of an Elf is stranger still, they are unable to grow body hair (aside for head hair, and facial hair for male Elves), their willowy bodies have joints that provide a wide range of movement, however in some Elves there is a hereditary birth defect that causes their joints to dislocate more easily.
Elves are a much more "emotional" race than others, in a very literal sense as they experience emotions with far greater intensity than other races. They have higher highs, and lower lows, and so as a culture art and music have become greatly important, as they have a much more profound impact upon the Elves. However, some Elves choose to train themselves to control and suppress their emotions, leading them to outwardly appear stoic and cold.
Species Bonus - "Limber: +1 dice to all movement-related rolls"

DWARF Lifespan: 250 years on average, however there are stories of Dwarves being so stubborn that they live to be over 300. Age like humans, however they physically deteriorate much slower.
Dwarves are the proud, and stubborn citizens of Midhold. Whilst many Dwarves live on the surface, there are many cities of theirs deep below the surface; each like their own nation.
The Dwarves of The Stronghold are short, most standing at only around 4 and a half feet tall; and are of a stocky build. However, that should not fool you, as what may appear to be portly mass, is in fact almost pure muscle.
Dwarves are unlike other races in the Stronghold, in the sense that they grow head and body hair much faster than any other species. Female Dwarves, however, are unable to grow facial hair, and so they make up for it by growing head hair at an even faster rate.
The Dwarves are an exceptionally tough species, often noted to shrug off blows that would send many other species to the ground. It is even said that some Dwarves are so stubborn they are able to ignore their own deaths, living long past 250 years old.
The Stubbornness of the Dwarves is legendary, they are notoriously difficult to negotiate with (especially politically) and are often bullheaded and rash. However, in equal legendary status to their stubbornness, is the Dwarvern sense of loyalty. If you make friends with a Dwarf, you have a friend for life. A friend who will, in an instant, jump into the fray to help you.
Species Bonus - "Stubborn: resist the first attack that would KO you, going down to 1HP instead" can only be used once per questline

GNOME Lifespan: 100 years on average, although 120 at maximum
Gnomes of the stronghold are small, excitable, and extremely social.
The average Gnome is around 3 feet tall, coming up to the waist of most humans. Their ears a very long and pointed, and are exceptionally expressive; as their ears often change position based upon their emotions (perked up being excited/happy, drooping being sad, and flattened in a similar way to an angry cat shows anger/frustration).
Gnomes possess a voracious appetite, normally having five meals a day (Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and Supper). Their bodies have a very high metabolism, and they are very much omnivores, being able to eat nearly any food. Their bodies have adapted to this fact, as they have four extra canine teeth that grow in next to their regular canines. These additional teeth are long and thin and extremely sharp, almost fang-like; they are similar to the canine teeth of a cat. This allows Gnomes to be able to bite into and chew any food.
Gnomes as a species are fiercely intelligent, needing to be so as they used to be a prey species. This has led, however, to young Gnomes having various "instinctual tics", such as wanting to bury into the ground when startled, a dislike of large animals and flying animals and several more. These "tics", however, are grown out of during puberty.
However, Adult Gnomes are extremely protective of their children. Gnome families are often extremely large, many Gnome parents having up to five children, frequently more. This, and the fact that their small size has made them vulnerable, has caused Gnomes to be and extremely social species. Living in tight knit communities and generally making friends for life.
Species Bonus - "Wary: +1 to all senses rolls"

ORC Lifespan: 80 years on average, although 100 at maximum
Orcs, a proud and hardy race dwelling in the harsh desert continent.
Exceptionally tall, averaging around 6 foot 9. Naturally muscular and with green skin. Orc ears come to a slight point, and during puberty two additional teeth grow in on the lower jaw that protrude slightly.
With thousands of years of culture and civilisation, Orcs live in huge walled cities and towns dotted across the sands. Aqueducts stretch like spiderwebs and odd ships created to sail across the dunes take people from city to city.
Species Bonus - "Unrelenting: regain 2 PP instantly" can only be used once per questline
