Created and Developed by Devilishfae, Pyrak and Branthebard.
Arena v1.0 was originally designed as a fast progression roleplay system. So often roleplays are created, you hit 5xp and then you never go there again, which i thought was a shame. I intended to create a system that enabled you to progress quickly to level up your characters and fight those 50 foot dragons we hear so much about.
The idea is that Gm's will host Arena v1.0 on their tables. players will then be able to join multiple tables with the same character.
In this guide I will (attempt) to tell you how you can set this up yourself using our mechanics.
==== Requirements ====
1. If you intend on using this system, we ask that you allow characters from other Arena v1.0 roleplays to join. Why you ask? Simple. Our aim is to create a network of roleplays that allow a single character to travel, between them, meaning less inactive characters and more plauyers for GM's roleplay ideas.
2. We ask that you make it aware that it is an Arena v1.0 roleplay. This will likely attract more characters to you, and in turn inspire other people to Gm themselves.
3. We will be setting up a list of tables that use Arena v1.0 we ask that you let us know if you plan on using it so that we can add you.
=====
So where to begin?
As a gm you will need to set up a home location with a shop that enables players to buy armor, weapons and potions. Here you can include drinks, but we tend to use a barman.
From here you can do whatever you wish whether another arena with your own levels or indeed quests and story lines.
We generally give out 1 gold for 1xp and xp is given for every health taken from a foe. So if i dealt three damage killing a goblin, i'd recieve 3 xp and 3 gold. We have scaled the prices to the same level and while a few updates may happen, there should be no drastic changes.
We also give out a small bonus at the end of a round. 5xp for a single room of monsters with a 4 gold bonus (relatively easy room. With more increasing with difficulty. This system enables quick progression through the various legendary ranks.
We will be releasing a 6th legendary rank due to the 2 bonus traits(+3) required for both armor and weapons to reach Tier 5 ( a 5 dice bonus), we thought it would make sense to round this up. The Final Legendary Rank will be much harder and come with some additional rewards.
Here are the files you will need to run it. Character creation is self explanatory to anyone joining your table. and the mechanics of the game are simple.
Basic things to remember!
-Two actions per person
-Agility to roll initiative.
-No saving throws unless Armor is equipped. Unless A - they are a melee character and thus use their melee trait. B they have an ability that has been approved.
-Melee get a 2+ dice roll on defense ( melee has a distinct disadvantage without it)
-power points used for abilities dont count towards damage, (they are spent using the ability.)
I am sure there is loads of questions. If the same ones pop up i'll add a FAQ section in here.
We have found the main issue with this roleplay is based around balancing abilities. If you need some guidance on what is acceptable and what is not, please contact myself, Pyrak or Branthebard.
There are no limits to what you can create. a town with quests, another arena. and anything else!
We will be updating these documents with further updates.
If you plan on using this, or have any suggestions or feedback let us know, we can and will help you.
Happy Roleplaying.
