The dungeons - Peaceful life of a dungeon maker

humon Jan '16  /  edited Jun '16
Dungeon makers:
you are a special character. You start weak, but gain stat and trait points twice as fast and you have the power of allied minions and readiness.

You start with nearly nothing, maybe a few friends or the ability to rise dead, it's up to you what you make.

A simple guide:
1. Get a starting group or a dungeon location
2. Build up a small dungeon
3. Ensure safety and resources of minions and beasts
4. Find a way of gathering more resources:
-raid nearby towns and villages
-lure travellers and treasure hunters into a line of traps
-deplete the nearby natural resources (eg: cut down entire forests, feed on the creatures of the lands, capture the bodies or souls of dead...)
5. Ensure personal and treasure safety with traps, minions, beasts etc.
6. Wait for a player party to find you so you can kill them or turn their bodies/soul to your side

Info to the explorers about dungeons:

There are multiple things a dungeon may be made of: first of all, it is made out of different rooms, the camera always focusing the ones that contain the most players and action

most rooms may contain loots, distraction, minions, traps, and other neat lil' things

a collection of enemy types currently most probably totally fluff to be looked at:

GREENSKIN BRANCH (trolls aint no greenskin but hey)
_Goblin: 6 base stat, 5 base trait, 1 custom trait

_Orc: 8 base stat (min. 5 life), 6 base trait (max 2 wisdom), 2 custom trait

_Forest troll: 9 base stat (min. 4 life), 7 base trait, 2 custom trait
_Mountain troll: 12 base stat (min. 7 life), 7 base trait, 2 custom trait, 1 prefix trait: Mnt troll: 2 - Strenght, stamina
- high chance of becoming upgraded
_Iceland troll: 8 base stat (min. 3 life), 7 base trait, 3 custom trait

_Ogre: 11 base stat (min. 6 life), 8 base trait (max 2 wisdom), 1 custom trait

UNDEAD BRANCH
_skeleton: 8 base stat (max 4 life), 7 base trait (no customs)
- Require a fallen human's body
_high skeleton: 10 base stat (max 6 life), 7 base trait, 1 custom (must be similar to the traits of the person who was animated)
- Require a fallen hero's body (or a strong npc's)
_skeleton lord: 13 base stat, 8 base trait, all customs of source slightly edited
- Require a fallen legend's body (a high xp legend npc or a high xp player)
_lich: 12 base stat (max 5 life), 7 base trait, 4 custom trait
- Require the body of a high level magic user (high xp magician player probably?)

_zombie: no pp, total life of the source (min. 5), 7 base trait (wisdom is 1), preset trait: Zombie: 2 - Infectious, plague spreading, extremely hard to kill or injure
- Require a fresh human body (confirm: human only?)
_ghoul: a mind-controlled/modified human, who obeys it's master till the death, slightly similar traits to zombies, but better
- Equal to the original but during the transformation lost one stat point and one custom trait (base if none present), preset trait: Ghoul: 1 - Obeys its master, highly under psychological pressure, hard to injure

MONSTER BRANCH

see: explorer forum
note: they are nerfed and usually weaker than the ones found in the explorers forum

If I understand correctly and you are referring to Strength, Agility, and Wisdom when you say "base trait," then I think the rules would be slightly less confusing to read if you changed "base trait" to "attributes."

On Zombies: It might be cool to have dogs along side human zombies. The zombies could be human only (and only attack humans) allowing feral dogs to live & fight alongside them, or the dogs could be zombies too. The issue with animal zombies is that people want bird zombies and snake zombies and other things that are small and not normally hostile, but would then take adventurers by surprise and gib them with the zombie infection. (ie: One of the wasps buzzing around stings you and now you are a zombie, roll strength to resist the disease.)

I'm looking forward to when this game goes live.
