(constantly being updated)
Howling Rain is a horror campaign set in the woods of Russia, where you survive constant attacks by ancient slavic mythology.
--cc--
Modern.
HUMANS NO MAGIC!
You have 17 points to spend on hp/pp(sanity) and main traits.
You only have 2 bonus traits.
You can start with weapons like pocket knives or BB guns, but it's all just fluff.
You have an inventory space of 5 to start with. You get a drawer in the cabin later.
--sanity--
(Idea by Tzuru)
PP IS NOT USED! PP is used as something called 'sanity'. It is decreased through shocking imagery, encounters with monsters, getting lost in the forest etc. The lower your sanity is, the more likely it is you hallucinate, have your mind controlled, thoughts distorted, see certain spirits or monsters, etc. Sanity can be replenished through 'true relaxation' (I'll tell you when) , certain medication, entertainment and socialisation, etc.
--Combat--
there are certain fights you can't win. I do dodging and blocking. You attack with strength, finnesse or strategy- stre/agi/wis.
--life and death--
You can die and you will have to make a new character. There ARE points where old characters can be revived for sacrifice of your current one, so if you lose a really close character, they're not gone forever forever. These points are called Yav Points. Only one person can revive an old character so make sure you work together to pick who it should be. New characters are introduced by being lost in the woods and finding the place where the Pcs are.
--'Levelling up'--
You don't gain XP. Instead, you gain "ostatok" by taking something once held or on a Slavic spirit, such as scales, weapons, slime etc. With each ostatok, you can +1 to hp/pp, +1 to an existing trait, or make a new trait with +1.
--Story SO FAR--
Each of you are or have been friends with a man named Andrei. He has recently contacted you all and told you he won a free holiday in a cabin in Russia. Excited, you all met with him and got ready to go out to a relaxing holiday in a wonderful cabin in a scenic taiga biome. But perhaps all is not as it seems.
Session 1: After arriving at the forest, the Pcs, led by Andrei, found an axe and then found the cabin. After a short time, and after Andrei was stolen away, everyone realised that the forests is crawling with spirits and monsters, and as sanity started being lost, it only got worse. After a while, Andre was found again and brought, and that night there was a full scale attack from the Leshy and the Zmey. They survived the night, but it is certain that the Leshy will strike again, so everyone got together and boarded up all possible entrances.
