Lords of the Realm - Commoner Character Creation

funnio987 Sep '17  /  edited Sep '17
Word travels quickly around the common people. A war has begun, or so you have been told. The Crown Prince - of some name that escapes you - has convinced his father, King Frederick to attack some lands across the sea. You’ve only heard of it in tales (or perhaps even books if you were lucky enough to be literate), the home to the Elvahn or something. Fancy people, like the nobles.
You suppose it was only a matter of time. Only the older folk around the village have experienced war, and that was only over some petty disputes between the nobles. It won’t be long now before a fancy ‘ol knight comes from the King’s castle to make you common-folk join the King’s forces. The veterans seem hesitant at the idea, but the younger people find the idea intriguing – after all, what better way to climb the social ladder than by becoming a hero in battle? Who knows, maybe when you’re conscripted you might become a noble yourself. Only time will tell. You hope you’re ready.

The common folk don’t get all the benefits that a wealthy, privileged noble may receive. This isn’t too bad however, as living without privilege has given you abilities and insights that many nobles would not receive normally. Commoners have a higher base prestige gain, ranging from 1.5x to 2.0x the amount that nobles receive, better and easier relation with commoners and the benefit of a third trait – already on +2.
Commoners have a lower base roll of currency, lower and harder relations with most nobles and the lack of fine-crafted weaponry/armour.

Each commoner character will start with the following things:
- Clothing, no armour.
- A single item. Optional, mostly used for roleplay and/or flavour. A small info section must be written on how it came into your character's hands or it can be incorporated into backstory.
- Two traits, one pertaining to your character's general skill and the other to what your character has primarily done in their life.
- A third trait, pertaining to anything that relates to your character. Has +2 already.
- Bands. Roll 6 die for a currency roll, and depending on what you get GM will determine the amount of money.

Just a note, no edgelords or powerplayers. Please.
This is a game built on characters and their interactions, so keep in mind there are other characters and players. Don't ruin their (and my own) experience.
