The Empire of Sol

You are a pilot, fresh out of the academy. For whatever reason, be it conscription (like many in the border systems) or voluntary service (like many within the core systems), you had joined The Emperor's Spear, the frontline militia raised to counter the Insurgent threat. It matters little if you sympathise with their plight or if you are a model citizen of the Empire, what matters is that you serve ably and well in the name of The Emperor.

His Majesty thanks you for your service. Continue to uphold your duties and you will be rewarded. Restore peace to the Outer Systems. Godspeed.

Though you are a pilot, you're not exactly unique within his Majesty's army. You have been assigned to an interchangeable squad within Lance Platoon and have been granted a mech of your 'own.' Order reigns supreme within the Empire, and custom fittings are reserved only for those that earn it. For the time being you will be riding in a standard mech, I-Titan 02 - often called 'Glare' for it's extensive plasma-based offensive capabilities.

Just a note, no edgelords or powerplayers. Please.
This is a game built on characters and their interactions, so keep in mind there are other characters and players. Don't ruin their (and my own) experience.

Their motivations, story etc. Your backstory is not revealed to the others in character, it is merely just in your character sheet so do as much as you like. You have a large amount of freedom with your backstory. Take advantage of it. Oh, and give a good effort please or it won't be approved. You're welcome to play as nobility, but keep in mind anything under the Sol system is personally controlled by the Emperor and is therefore off-limits. Administrators are also off-limits, but you are free to have relations. Personal relations with the Emperor or the Council of Legislation is also off-limits for the sake of story.)

The Confederation of Independent Systems

The CoIS is running low on pilots. Though you had enlisted in what little pilot programs there was within the outer systems, you were abruptly pulled out of your training and hefted into active combat in the wake of the Adelyan System Conflict. Whether you like it or not, the outcome of this war will affect the outer systems forever. You must fight for your people. Save them from the oppression of the tyrannical Empire.

Good luck, soldier. We're all counting on you.

You're a damn pilot. There isn't much of your kind left, and you hardly qualify enough to be able to pilot a mech. But hell, you're doing it anyways. The Adelyan System Conflict damn near wiped out all the pilots the CoIS has got, so you've been thrust into combat so you can bolster pilot numbers. Like many, you've been assigned to a pilot squad and have been granted a mech to call your own. Though you haven't earned enough commendations nor resources to kit it out to your own liking, you're more than welcome to decide the basic loadout. You've been assigned to CoIS standard: a C-Base 09 - better known as 'Bares' for their baseline model and freedom to customise based on pilot preference.
