Game Masters, what motivates you to host?
It's kinda fun. Especially if the players are having fun and enjoying their characters too.

To be honest, I'm not even sure myself. I have times where I just don't want to host and times where I do. I can't control when, but at least hosting 9/10 ends up being fun, even if I wasn't initially in the mood to do so.
I just like GM-ing. It was my preference in my ttrpg days, and it is here.
I like collaborative writing/storytelling. One of my main influences, Lovecraft (problems with him aside), leaned very heavily into this. It's probably not a coincidence that my current campaign not only borrows many themes from him but also incorporates the players' ideas into the lore of the world itself.

For me, it's the idea of investment. When more people are investing in your table, the more you consider hosting to be worth your time.
